My work combines two disparate media: photo and paint. The hazy, blurred, tonal images favor the periphery to offer abstract spaces that are then transformed into dimensional objects. I collect color from my travels to define place as my subjects—the process of layering images with resin, plaster, and paint acknowledge the importance of the hand-made as evidence of the materiality of vision. Architecture is often my focus as I record built environments as places of witness to history. I want to encourage looking closely with lush surfaces, complex color relationships, and soft finishes.
